What is True for Jeremiah is Also True for You

Before I formed you in the womb I knew [and] approved of you [as My chosen instrument], and before you were born I separated and set you apart, consecrating you; [and] I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.  Then said I, Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am only a youth  But the Lord said to me, Say not, I am only a youth; for you shall go to all to whom I shall send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.  Be not afraid of them [their faces], for I am with you to deliver you, says the Lord.  Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.  10 See, I have this day appointed you to the oversight of the nations and of the kingdoms to root out and pull down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.  Jeremiah 1:5-10  Amplified Bible

God formed and created you with a chosen purpose and plan for your life.  He set you apart for that work and for His glory.  We have the choice of what we do with consecration.   Jeremiah’s response to God is sounds similar to what we would likely say.  In verse 6 Jeremiah denies his ability to accomplish what the Lord has created him for.  How silly is that?  If God created you for a specific end and purpose and then consecrated you for that end, how could you not be up to the task?  That is self-centered, denying God and His Word.

I love the Lord’s response and we should hear it said to us when we doubt the plans that God has of us.  The Lord says, “Don’t tell me that!  I don’t want to hear those words from your mouth.  I expect much more from those that I have given so much too”.  I am paraphrasing but I think you get the idea.  He then speaks peace to Jeremiah with the assurance that he has nothing to fear.

He next touches the prophet’s mouth.  Think of that, as we read the Word and speak the Word daily we are experiencing that same power.  It is Jesus touching our mouth and anointing with power the things that we say.  We should expect that when we speak, there will be action and victory not because of who we are but because our mouths have been touched by Jesus.

Verse 10 is our reminder that this is the day of His action and victory through us.  This is the day that we are called to Him, to do very specific and personal assignments.  He has something for you to do this day and every day, that all lead to accomplishing His plans for and through your life!   Remember how vital you are to His plans and that every day He has something for you to accomplish and speak or do for His glory.
