Giving

As believers we acknowledge that God is the source for all our blessings, including money! Our mistake is thinking that the money we have is exclusively to meet our needs. Instead we should be thinking of how we can use our money to advance the kingdom of God and meet the needs of others. 2 Corinthians 9:10 says:

“Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.”

God supplies us with both seed and bread. In other words, your finances have a dual purpose. He provides some for you to meet your daily needs – that is the “bread”. The bread is meant for our consumption. But He also provides us seed and He specifies that it is seed for the sower. This is seed that intended for us to sow and not consume ourselves. This seed is given to us so that we would be deliberate in our planting that seed in places where it will produce a harvest for the Lord.

Part of the money that we have is meant to be sown towards the advancement of the kingdom. If we consume this seed instead of sowing it, we are misusing what God has entrusted to my stewardship.

As Jesus sees that He can trust you to use the finances He has given you stewardship over, He will entrust more to you because He sees that it does not go to you but through you to His good works.
