Setting The Direction Of Flow
“Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes.” Matthew 14:19 NKJV
There are two realities in this life, the physical reality, and the spiritual reality. The problem that we fall into is that our senses can only perceive the things of the natural realm. We have to make the daily decision to look up to the promises of the Word that are in the spiritual realm. We have to decide that we are going to look beyond the natural and see with spiritual eyes the things that the Word has promised to us.
The more that I have thought on this, the more I have come to realize there is a direction of flow we need to place ourselves in. The unseen things of the spiritual realm are the greater reality, even though the things of the natural realm seem superior because that is all that we sense. If we accept the things of this natural world as the final reality we will never realize the promises that are ours in the spiritual realm because the flow does not go from natural to spiritual. Trying to begin in the natural is going against the spiritual current so to speak. Since the things of this world are not the greater but the lesser, we cannot start from there.
The greater truths are those in the spiritual realm. If we “look towards them” and speak them and believe them despite what we experience, we start that flow properly from the spiritual realm and it can then be manifested in the natural realm. We must decide every day to look to the promises already established in the spiritual realm and focus there. That starts the flow that will lead those truths to become a reality in this natural realm.
For example, consider a used car that I purchased several years ago. I loved that car but quickly it started to have problems. Each problem led to increased disappointment and I began to think in terms of “what next”? Then the Lord woke me in the middle of the night with one thought, “If you believe the car to be a blessing then see it as such and speak the blessing over it”. That morning I stood in front of my car and said, “This car is a blessing to us, it is a blessing to me, it is a blessing to our ministry and it will act as a blessing from this point forward.”
Rather than looking at the natural circumstances and believing that to be the final reality, I instead chose to look up, and believe His favor and blessings were upon us. I chose to look up and changed the spiritual flow so the spirit realm realities displaced the natural realities, with His victories. The car has been a blessing to me since that day.
We need to look to the spiritual realm every day and believe His promises for you. Set the direction of flow for your life from the spiritual to the natural realm. Set the flow by always looking up!
