God Rewards Finishers
“As for you, go your way until the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your inheritance.” Daniel 12:13 NIV
Do you ever just feel lazy? Life and its burdens can make us lethargic. When life gets uncomfortable you just don’t want to do anything at all. We tend to apathetic and unproductive. Maybe you’re there today!
If so listen to what Daniel tells us in the end of his book. The twelfth chapter is dedicated to the end times. The very days we are now living in. Daniel saw these days currently unfolding and in his very final words to us he recorded a word of encouragement knowing how we would feel.
It is easy to feel the lethargy overtaking us in life, but Daniel says that we should go in the way we have been instructed to until the end. It is a reminder of the importance to keep moving forward in the Lord. To advancing the Kingdom of the Lord even though we may be weary. It is a call for each of us to continue our march forward in life because God does have a purpose for every one of us.
I know you’re tired but don’t quit because God rewards finishers according to Daniel. So heed the words at the start of the verse and “go your way”.
Go in the direction that God has called you to. If this thought causes you to pause and speculate “what is the direction God has called me in?” Then the question itself is evidence that you have already yielded to a degree of apathy. It should challenge you to step up time spent with Him and in the Word. Then the direction becomes self-evident. You won’t have to struggle. Jesus will point you in the right direction. But not iif you are not of one mind with Him.
Once you shake the languidness you can move forward to finish the work you began. Then Daniel says you will find rest. Rest comes in the faithfulness of “going your way” Ironic but true! Then at the end of the days, you shall receive your inheritance. But fulfill your commitment to the Lord. Then you will feel rested and restored. Go out and do the work even when it is easier just to sit and believe that someone else will do it. God’s reward far outweighs the sacrifice you will make.
