Your Answer Is Always Pursue

“So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?”  And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”      1 Samuel 30:8   NKJV

In 1 Samuel we find David seeking an answer from the Lord on whether he should pursue the Amalekites.  While David and his men had been away the Amalekites had raided their homes and taken all the women and children along with all of the possessions of David and his men.  They were all in despair and at a loss.  They were broken in their hearts and holding David responsible even spoke of taking his life.

By all appearances all was lost, they did not even know if their families remained alive.  But David strengthened himself in the Lord and asked the Lord if he should pursue the enemy. Would they overtake them and find the Lord’s favor?  In the verse above we see the Lord’s answer to David, “pursue!”  If David went after what was his, what belonged to him because it had been given to him by the Lord, he would find success.  If David and his men pursued the enemy, not only would they overtake them but they would recover all that had been taken from them, their families and belongings.

What is in your life that appears to be a loss?  What is it that seems to hold permanent defeat over you?  What is it that the enemy of your soul has robbed from you bringing you to a place of despair?  Have you given up on it and counted it as a loss?  Be strengthened and emboldened by this story of David, because if you ask yourself, “Should I pursue what I have I lost, what I have even given up hope for?  Do I have the right to pursue what was lost, when it was my fault, my mistakes that led to their loss?”  The answer to you is a resounding “YES”!

God’s answer to David when he asked “Should I pursue?” was “Yes”.  God told David that he would recover all things and that is exactly what happened to David and his men.  That answer is Jesus’ answer to you in all things, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”  That is His answer to you today.

Take a new look at what you have lost in life or faith, and then, in the power of the Word, begin to pursue what you have lost, or what has been taken from you. You shall not fail but recover all in Him if you believe and move forward in the boldness of faith.  Your answer is always “pursue” because Jesus loves to bless you with the impossible through Him.
