You Have The Tongue Of The Learned

“The Lord God has given Me The tongue of the learned, That I should know how to speak A word in season to him who is weary.  He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear To hear as the learned.”     Isaiah 50:4    NKJV

Many times people are tentative to give Biblical instruction, clarification or advice to others because we are uncertain of what to say to them.  We want to be certain that we are speaking to them Holy Spirit given direction and not our own personal observations.  I learned long ago that my advice and wisdom might make somebody feel better about their situation for a few moments, but as soon as the realities of life return to their awareness, they need more than just my words. They need the truth of the Word of God delivered through Holy Spirit wisdom.  That is where their deliverance will come from.  I know, it sounds like a hard thing to do. How can we know for certain we will have those words to give when the moment comes and someone is coming to you for help?

Find your assurance in the verse above.  As a believer in Jesus, nothing is hidden from you and you have been given the tongue of the learned so that you will know what to speak in every situation so that you will have His Word to give in the right season.  You may not feel like it but the truth is that you have the tongue of the learned.

When I was young in the Lord, I found that people even then would come to me for counsel and direction.  They would sit down and share their problem or concern and the whole time they were talking I would think to myself, “I have nothing to say!  They are going to stop talking in just a moment and expect a response from me and I have nothing!”  But here is what always happened, and will still happen on occasion today.  When they stopped talking and they look at me, I just begin to talk.  I may not know where I was going but I just start talking, and as soon as I did, the Holy Spirit would begin to move through me and give me the insights and the words to say.  Afterward, I would think back on what I had shared and know that this was not from me but the wisdom of the Lord who knew that person and knew exactly what they needed to hear.

Just like Isaiah you can say, “The Lord has given me the tongue of the learned!”  Because as a follower of Jesus you have the Holy Spirit within you, who will speak through you if you will just be a willing vessel for Him to speak through.  Be that vessel and you can be used by Him to speak words of deliverance and hope into the lives of others.
