You Have The Ears Of The Learned
“The Lord God has given Me The tongue of the learned, That I should know how to speak A word in season to him who is weary. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear To hear as the learned. “ Isaiah 50:4 NKJV
We often fail to realize the amazing gifts we have in Jesus. It is not things we have earned or deserve, they are simply gifts given to us because He loves us and He desires to use us to minister to others and glorify His name as we do so. You have the tongue of the learned and you have the ears of the learned, ears that can hear the Lord.
In another devotional I address the first part of that verse from Isaiah, to show us that we do have the tongue of the learned and what that means in our lives and in our ability to minister to others. Today let’s look at the last part of that verse and consider what it means to have the ears of the learned, ears that can hear His insight and revelations daily.
The verse tells us that He awakens us morning by morning with a specific purpose in mind. He awakens us to hear His Words specifically spoken to us as individuals. When you go to bed at night you are probably just hoping for a good night sleep. If you wake up feeling rested you consider that a good night. Well, it is, but there is so much more we should be expecting. When you close your eyes at night, let the last thoughts in your mind be thoughts about Jesus, thoughts about the Word. Go to sleep being with Him and His Spirit will minister to you throughout the night. But then also go to sleep with the expectation that when you wake up, your ear, your spiritual ear will be primed and tuned to hear His voice, to hear what He is speaking to you. Have this expectation and he will awaken you to hear.
I have found that some of the most powerful visions He has given me or the most clear and powerful dreams through which He has spoken to me, come just before I awake. I find this consistently in my life. It is proof of His promise to awaken us to hear. He truly awakens my ear to hear from Him. I treasure these moments and they cause me to anticipate even more. It is not that God does not speak the rest of the day. Of course, He does, but if we are honest with ourselves, the best time to hear (free from the daily distractions of life) is before our day begins and we are fresh and our attention is undivided.
He wants to speak to you daily and if you make it a priority, He will awaken you tomorrow, speaking revelation to you personally.
