The Power Of One Person In Prayer

Jul 14, 2017Written Devotionals

“Therefore He said that He would destroy them, Had not Moses His chosen one stood before Him in the breach, To turn away His wrath, lest He destroy them.”    Psalm 106:23   NKJV

It is usually easier for us to realize the power of other people’s prayers than it is to see that we have power in our prayers as well.  Often we mistakenly believe that our prayers fall upon deaf ears, but nothing could be further from the truth.  You have amazing power in prayer and it is time for each one of us to realize this.

In Psalm 106, God reveals the power of one person in prayer, one person that prays in faith.  God would have poured out His wrath except for one man praying.  One man stopped the wrath and impacted thousands or perhaps millions of lives.  Imagine if God had not found one man to pray in faith.  We can see so much of His good done in the lives of those around us if we will be that one person praying in faith.

You might say, “Well, Moses was identified as His chosen one, so God chose him and empowered him in his prayers.”  Not so at all.  We have a better covenant and a better relationship with the Lord then even Moses had.  We have far greater power and authority through Jesus.  So, every time you pray in faith for someone else that is in need, or even for things in your own life, you have the power to see great things transpire.  Your prayers are powerful in Him.

It is easy to become calloused in our prayers and half the time we do not even expect very much from our prayers.  Often we counter our prayers by the very words we speak afterward (revealing what we really believe).

You have the authority of Jesus Christ behind every word or prayer you speak, and your prayer can influence someone else’s life in a powerful way today, because of the awesome power that is behind one person’s prayer of faith.    Let’s let the Holy Spirit remind us of whom we are in Him and stretch ourselves further than ever before in our prayers upon our return.
