The Full Measure

“22 And He has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the church], 23 Which is His body, the fullness of Him Who fills all in all [for in that body lives the full measure of Him Who makes everything complete, and Who fills everything everywhere with Himself].”  Ephesians 1:22-23  Amplified Bible

In context, Paul has been talking about the revelation knowledge and understanding of spiritual things and the Word of God that is ours.  He is concluding these points here in verses 22 and 23 by saying to us that you can have spiritual wisdom and understanding because of great power in you through Jesus Christ which is the power of the Holy Spirit in you.

Jesus is the supreme Head of the church.  That means that Jesus is the supreme Head of you and me today.  And the body (you and me) have the fullness of Him.  It is Jesus Himself through the Holy Spirit that is in you, who fills you to the full when He abides in us. He fills you with the full measure of Himself.

What does the full measure of Jesus look like in me?  He shows us what that full measure a few verses earlier in verses 19 and 20 when Paul describes this to us as follows: “ and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places”.

The full measure of Christ that is in you as a believer is the “exceeding greatness of His power”.  It is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and the same power that seated Jesus at the right hand of the Father in the spiritual realm!  That is awesome to know that this is the same power that is in you.  And it is not just a sliver of that power; no it is the full measure of that power.  This is the power of Jesus Christ that is in you and can work through you if you acknowledge it and speak words of faith, His words of faith with our mouths.

Paul wants you to have an understanding of the fullness of this power that is invested in you through Jesus.  Once you understand the truth of this reality, then Paul wants us to operate in that power because we have the full measure of Jesus complete in you.  Think of yourself as invested with this fullness. Think of the glory of Jesus that can and should be poured out of each of our lives daily He is the supreme Head over each of us and has chosen to give you the full measure of Himself.
