The Acceptable Year Of The Lord

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me  To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”  20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”   Luke 4:18-21    NKJV

Jesus is at the Synagogue in Nazareth and he reads the prophecy from Isaiah regarding the Messiah.  He also refers to the acceptable year of the Lord which refers to Leviticus 25 and the year of Jubilee.  Picture what is being described; Jesus has just said that He is the Messiah and He is proclaiming the acceptable year of the Lord or the Jubilee.  All who were in the Synagogue had their eyes fixed upon Him as He told them this scripture was fulfilled in their hearing.

The year of Jubilee is the year of restoration of all things.  This happened once every fifty years and at that time, every possession went back to its original owner. Property would be returned and slaves would also be released and returned.  Jesus said He was the Jubilee and was anointed to bring back all that was taken by Satan.  Remember this is a time when everything (good or bad) goes back to its original owner.

Jubilee was so that no man lost his inheritance even if he had given it away or sold it because of troubled times or bad decisions in life.  What was given to him was his forever and would be restored at Jubilee.  Well, Jesus is our Jubilee and everything is restored and goes back to its original owner.  God has plans for you and your life and those plans are good plans for your good and His glory. If you have made poor decisions in life and it has cost you, do not fret.  It is not lost forever.  On the contrary, it is yours forever and restored to you through Jubilee and Jesus is your Jubilee.  Receive once more what is yours.

What have you lost in this life?  Maybe you lost health because of this fallen world or even because of your own bad decisions, like smoking perhaps.  Don’t accept those as the final results. According to Jubilee what is yours, including health, is yours forever.  If you lost it, reclaim it as part of the Jubilee of Jesus.  Receive back all the good things that Jesus has established for you from before the foundations of the world, and send the bad things back to their original owner, Satan.  In Jesus every day is the acceptable year of the Lord, reclaim what He purchased for you.
