Terrorize The Enemy

“I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.”   Joshua  2:9    NKJV

If you feel as though you are stumbling through life, powerless and void of hope for success, take heart.  The truth of the matter is that as His child God has gone before you and provided success for you, even if you cannot see them.  When we walk in the knowledge of who we are in Jesus (victors in Him) the enemy trembles at our presence.

I know it does not feel as though he is trembling before you right now.  In fact, you may feel like you are the defeated one.  Well, consider your situation not from your perspective but from the vantage point of your adversary.

We all know the story of the two spies from the book of Joshua.  Joshua sent out two spies to discern the preparedness of Jericho for conquest.  They come upon Rahab who protects them and speaks her heart to the spies.  She told them in verses 9-11:

“I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.  For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.”

Think about it. All the time that God was faithfully providing for His people through supernatural means the rest of the world was watching and taking notice.  For 40 years, the people of Jericho had lived in terror of the Israelites because the people of Jericho knew that God went before them, a fact that the Israelites were oblivious to.  Their hearts melted because of their trepidation of these children of God.  Had the Israelites moved 40 years before instead of hesitating at the report of 10 of the 12 original spies, they could have possessed the Promised Land a generation earlier!

In your life, it may look like you are up against overwhelming odds, but that is only an appearance, nothing more!  The reality is that as a believer in Jesus you are an overcomer and the enemy lives in dread that you will realize who you are in Christ.  The hearts of your opposition will melt as they see the Lord move through you.   The more we walk in that knowledge and in that assurance, the more others will see that power in us as well.  While it may bring forth a dread in some, others will be drawn to the Jesus that they see powerfully moving through us.

No matter what you may be facing today know that the enemy who wishes to destroy us quakes in fear of us when he sees us standing in Him.
