Spiritual Identity Crisis

“O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens!  Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants  You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.”    Psalm 8:1-2    NKJV

In this country, the Body of Christ struggles with an identity crisis.  It is easy to feel discouraged because we often feel so weak in our spiritual walk.  We desire more, but struggle to experience the powerful things promised in the world.  In this world, our faith can feel small.  We see the weakness of this flesh and blood and we dwell in and mistakenly think that is the sum of who we are.  That would truly be a mistake!

All of us have been at the place where you look at someone else, and by comparison, you feel weak and without spiritual value or worth.  You see others who live strongly in the world and do great things and you feel like a failure.  You may get the sense that you could never be used like others or attain to a higher level of spiritual power and results in your life.

The truth is you are equal already!  You may be thinking to yourself, that is not an accurate statement. I know, but it is the truth and it is a truth you need to see and receive.  You are equal to all others who are serving Jesus even though they may be seeing more success in their walk.  You are equal because you also have Jesus Christ the King of Kings and Lord of all living inside of you, with the fullness of His power and victory!

You may feel like a spiritual baby compared to others and maybe you have just accepted that position.  Today is the day to start expecting more. Expect to grow daily in Him because He will move through anyone who is willing to be used to His glory, even babes in Him!  Psalm 8 verse 2 says that from the mouths of babes He has ordained strength!  He has established strength in you that you have probably never realized but it is in you because He is in you.  His strength is even in those who are babes and are weak.  In Him their weakness becomes strength.  It is not you, it is His strength in you!

I was recently looking at a book that chronicles my family’s history.  Every family member for over 200 years was listed there with their date of birth and date of death.  There were 75 pages of names!  Even those who died as infants were chronicled in those pages because they were a part of the family.  You may feel like a babe in Him, but you are in the family book and as part of the family you have the power of the head of the family, Jesus Christ!  You are not saved by degree but all at once.  In like fashion you are not empowered by degree, you have His power at work in you and through you at salvation, so start expecting to see His power at work, through you and to His glory.
