Rights Of Citizenship

27 “Only be sure as citizens so to conduct yourselves [that] your manner of life [will be] worthy of the good news (the Gospel) of Christ, so that whether I [do] come and see you or am absent, I may hear this of you: that you are standing firm in united spirit and purpose, striving side by side and contending with a single mind for the faith of the glad tidings (the Gospel). 28 And do not [for a moment] be frightened or intimidated in anything by your opponents and adversaries, for such [constancy and fearlessness] will be a clear sign (proof and seal) to them of [their impending] destruction, but [a sure token and evidence] of your deliverance and salvation, and that from God.  29 For you have been granted [the privilege] for Christ’s sake not only to believe in (adhere to, rely on, and trust in) Him, but also to suffer in His behalf.”      Philippians 1:27-29   Amplified Bible

Verse 27 instructs us to endeavor not to allow our responses to the world to be defined by the standards of the flesh and the carnal mind.  We are often attacked by people in this world and we take it personally.  We always need to remember where those attacks come from, realizing that persecution comes in many forms and the assaults upon us are simply the enemy using others for his purposes.  When we identify this we can stand as a citizen, not of this world, but as a citizen of heaven, who is not bound by the foolishness of this world.  A citizen that when attacked can say “diplomatic immunity”!  “Satan, your attacks upon me have no hold and no legal standing and will not stand up!”

When you stand on Him you are placing the precedence upon the Gospel, and not upon yourself.  You open your life to be used as an example to those who are watching and will see who remains standing victorious.  They will see it is you and want what you have.

He offers you these great words to strengthen you and place a rod of iron in your very soul.  “Do not for a moment be frightened or intimidated by anyone opposing you”.  This is part of the benefits of citizenship in heaven.  Know your rights as citizens of heaven and the power of Jesus that is at work in and through you and stand strong against the attacks of others, who are merely tools being used by a defeated enemy.
