Path To The Good Life

“For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].”   Ephesians 2:10   Amplified Bible

Most of us just wander through our day waiting to see what event comes our way.  We don’t think of there being a plan for our day. We tend to see each day as a series of mere happenstances that unfold, “who knows what tomorrow might bring?” Well, I believe that is one big deception that we don’t have to accept.  There is someone that not only knows what tomorrow might bring; He had laid out the plans for your day today and tomorrow and so forth before you were even born!  Jesus has plans for you, for your day and your life.

Too often our goals do not reach farther than getting through today and the responsibilities that are before us.  We just want to survive through the day, go to sleep, get up tomorrow, get through the day and repeat for the next 60 years.  Jesus has more for you than that is in this life.  He has great plans just for you, plans He designed personally just for you.

You were not born again just to continue your life serving self and surviving as best you can.  No, Jesus has laid out plans for your day today, specific plans for you because He loves you and because you are His.  Your day is not just a blind walk through whatever events may happen to unfold.  He has a specific path for you today, a path that will advance His kingdom, glorify His name, demonstrate His faithfulness and love and bring peace and contentment to your own soul.

Consider yesterday, when you look at it do you see it as a day that accomplished something for Him?  Would you consider yesterday a successful day or a failure?  Did you end yesterday with a sense of contentment and joy that can only come from Him?  One final consideration regarding yesterday, would you say that yesterday could be summarized as “living the good life”?

If “living the good life” does not summarize your days in this life, then perhaps you should consider whether you are on the correct path.  He has prepared a path for you each day, a path that He intends for you to walk in.  Walking this path results in your walking in the good life which He has already arranged and prepared for you.

Yield your day to Him.  Ask Him to lead you in His path for the day, His good, pre-arranged path for you.  Walking in that path leads to fulfillment in this life, and contentment accompanied by excited anticipation for what the next day holds.  If you are not living the good life, you are probably on the wrong path.  Live the good life walking with Him in His paths for you.
