“I Will Not!”

“Let your [a]character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] [b]Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor [c]give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [d][I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor [e]let [you] down ([f]relax My hold on you)! [[g]Assuredly not!]”  Hebrews 13:5   Amplified Bible

In this verse, we are told to be content and satisfied with our present situation.  Being content with our present situation is not something most of us excel at or even attempt.  God wants us to be content in all circumstances because that is an expression of our faith in Him.  However, being content in your situation does not mean that we just accept things as they are.  We are content in any situation because we are supposed to rest in Him with the confidence of His deliverances.

After that statement in this verse, we see that God Himself then assures you that He will not fail you!  No matter what your circumstances are you can be content because you have the promise of God that He will not fail you.  In the area of finances, He will not fail you! In matters of your health, He will not fail you.  No matter what you face or how things appear in any area of your life, He will not fail you. This is His promise.  If we believe Him then we should be content in Him.  Jesus has already established the victory in every area of your life. He has done it; we just accept it and then enforce it with our faith and words of faith.

But that is not all.  After that wonderful promise, the Lord says that He will not give you up.  When you feel like He is not with you when you feel like maybe He has abandoned you when you are asking “Where are you God?” know that He has not given up. It is just not yet done in the natural realm.

But the promises do not even end there.  Next, we see that Jesus says He will not leave you without support.  God supports us all the time.  He is constantly undergirding you with strength and you are always in His hands.

These are excellent promises that Jesus has made to us concerning anything that may be going on in our lives, but because He knows us and He knows how quickly we can go from faith to doubt, from confidence to uncertainty, Jesus gives us that wonderful last line in this verse.  It is a power statement to remind you of His faithfulness and to encourage you when doubt may creep into your thoughts.  When those thoughts of “what if” arise in your mind hear Jesus speaking this definitive statement of His promises to you.  Three times He says “I will not” in any way let you down.  To every question and uncertainty of our mind, Jesus says, “I will not” fail you!  He concludes by promising you that He will not leave you or forsake you, or relax His hand upon you.  This is His emphatic definitive and strengthening declaration to you.
