Getting More Revelation

Mar 5, 2021Written Devotionals

For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;”    Colossians 1:9  NKJV

This is from Paul’s letter to the Colossians and what he is telling them is really exciting news for us today as well.  It is an insight into how to get more spiritual insight into your life.  How many of us have said, “I want more revelation and understanding of the Word and the things of the Lord?”

Paul is saying that since he heard that their church had such a deep love for Jesus and for the good news of Jesus that he has been praying for them, for them to get insight, understanding, and discernment into the deeper spiritual things of heaven.  Put yourself in the place of one of those people that were part of the church of the Colossians as they had this letter read to them.  Imagine how it felt to have such a great church leader like Paul praying for them and for their growth in the knowledge and understanding of spiritual things.

This gives us a wonderful insight into the heart of Paul.  He dearly loved those who loved Jesus and was filled with a desire for them to understand the deeper things of Jesus and His great love for them.  Paul understood things Himself and wanted all others to fully know and understand the things that he knew.  He had revelation of the things of Jesus like no other, and he did not keep these things to himself. He shared them because he wanted to all to experience fully what he was experiencing in Jesus.

This should be in our heart as well.  We should have a heart to see others grow in their knowledge and revelation of the deeper things of the kingdom of God.  We should be praying for others in this regard just as Paul did.  We should be passionate in our prayer for those in our life that are seeking more.

Stop for a moment and think about this.  No one had a greater revelation of the things of the new covenant than Paul.  And he taught and prayed for others to have the same insight and knowledge.  If you want revelation like Paul had, the kind of revelation that comes to you from the Holy Spirit, a revelation to understand things that only can be understood by the Holy Spirit than do what Paul did.  Pray for others and teach them what you know.  You may think you don’t have much knowledge to give and that is all right, just give what you have.  If it is a little it is still life changing because it is His truth.  It will still change the lives of others.  Just share what you know!

As you give away the wisdom you have he will fill you with more.  Make room for more by giving it away!
