Can The Power Flow Through You?
“ Then does He Who supplies you with His marvelous [Holy] Spirit and works powerfully and miraculously among you do so on [the grounds of your doing] what the Law demands, or because of your believing in and adhering to and trusting in and relying on the message that you heard?” Galatians 3:5 Amplified Bible
This verse asks the question “does the power of the Holy Spirit only operate through us when we have the ability to live right and do right”? Too often we fall into the misguided supposition that if we don’t do things just right the Holy Spirit power will not flow through us. We honestly believe that power can flow through others, but we figure we are disqualified for one reason or another.
The Holy Spirit moving in power is based on two things. First, we have to believe that He will move through us (we need to stop disqualifying ourselves in our minds), and then we have to have the Word within us. As the Word is in us (the power of His Word and truth) and we believe it, then the power of the Holy Spirit will flow through us in ways beyond what we could imagine.
Let’s look at that same verse from the NKJV, because it shows two words a little clearer. “Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?” Galatians 3:5 NKJV
Notice that the word “works” is there twice. Each one has a little different meaning. In the initial usage, “works” means “active, effectual and mighty”. This is the “work” of the Holy Spirit. It does not matter who I am, He is active and has great effect and mighty results! All I have to do is believe the message of His Word and speak it. His work is active, effectual and mighty.
The second time we see the word “work”, it means an effort, or toil, indicating there is labor involved. The first kind of work, that which is mighty and active and with great effect is not done by any individual labor or toil. It is not dependent upon the flesh to make this effectual “work” be accomplished. The pressure is off of you and me. It does not matter how others view you or even how you view yourself. The Holy Spirit is in us already and more than able to do the amazing and the impossible through us. This happens, not because of us or our lives, but because we have given Him access to move with ultimate power by believing and speaking the Word. As we speak the truth, He will move through us with power as we believe.
