Abounding In Fruitfulness

Jun 21, 2021Written Devotionals

8 “And you will again obey the voice of the Lord and do all His commandments which I command you today. The Lord your God will make you abound in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your land for good. For the Lord will again rejoice over you for good as He rejoiced over your fathers,”   Deuteronomy 30:8-9    NKJV

Verse 9 tells us exactly what we want to hear today and every day.  The Lord Himself will make us abound in fruitfulness.  We will abound all areas of our lives as we walk into all that fruitfulness of the Lord, He will rejoice over us.  How good is this?  How much should we really expect?  I would suggest raising your level of expectation for the increase and good things Jesus has established for you personally, because according to the dictionary, “abound” means “to be rich or well supplied”.  His plan is for you to be rich and well supplied in all that you put your hand to, fruitful in health and increase in every way imaginable.  Now that sounds like where we want to be, and we can be.  Remember He rejoices over you for good.  He rejoices as we walk into all the great and many blessings He has for us.

We love the picture of our future (which can start today), but we also have to realize what was spoken just before that verse.  Verse 8 speaks to us of obedience to the Lord.  It is in our obedience to the voice of the Lord in our lives, our obedience to His Word and even in obedience to step in faith towards all the great promises He has called us to, that we will find the resulting promises of verse 9.

Walk in this obedience and Jesus Himself will make you rich and well supplied in all things in this life.  The Lord promises that if we will obey, we will also abound.

Look once more at verse 9 and drink in the fullness of what this means for you.  “For the Lord will again rejoice over you for good”.  Think of it, He has always rejoiced over us and He rejoices as we walk in obedience and He will once again be rejoicing with each moment of our humble obedience to His precious Word, which reveals His love to us.
