A Mind Thoroughly Opened To Scriptures

“Then He [thoroughly] opened up their minds to understand the Scriptures”   Luke 24:45    Amplified Bible

“I just don’t read the Bible that often because when I read it, I struggle to understand what I am reading, and how it applies to my life!”  This is a common lament from believers and that is very unfortunate because the Word is the power of life and strength for each one of us and it speaks to us personally.  If you are one of the many that are frustrated by a lack of confidence in your ability to comprehend the things of the Bible, I have some great news for you, you can!

Let’s be honest, we have all read things in the Word that have not been clear to us, or perhaps even confused us.  While we can all relate to that frustration, we should never let that set our minds to a belief that we are just not capable of understanding the Word.  Jesus gave us the Word so that He could speak life and hope into you every single day.  That is His will and intention so we need to realize that it can be achieved and we can experience it.  I love the above verse from Luke 24:45 as Jesus was speaking to His disciples. Remember that as a believer, we are His disciples of today, and He has thoroughly opened your mind today to the revelation of the Scriptures.

Jesus has thoroughly opened up your mind for the purpose of understanding the Bible. That is wonderful news that should help us change our expectations when we read the Word.  We should have a sense of expectancy that we are going to read and get direct insight and revelation from the words that we read every day!  I know that you may be saying to yourself, “That sounds really good but that has not been my experience”.  I understand that, but you need to accept that as being in the past.

Today is a new day, a day when you are aware that Jesus has thoroughly opened your mind to understand the Scriptures.  Forget yesterday. Open the Word and know you can and will understand things that you have not understood in the past.  Today read with the awareness that He will speak directly into your life through the Word you read.  That is both exciting and liberating spiritually.  You don’t need to be a Bible scholar to understand the Word or to have it speak the truth to you.  In John 16 Jesus promises that the Holy Spirit would reveal the truth to us.  In fact, He will speak the truth to you personally according to John 16:13

“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. “

Open the Word of God today and expect a different result.  Expect revelation and understanding as you read it and as you meditate on what you read throughout the day
